Casa Grande woman arrested after crash with DUI Task Force vehicle

CASA GRANDE, AZ - A Casa Grande woman was arrested Sunday after hitting a DUI Task Force Vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to authorities.

Deputies, including a K9, with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, were working another traffic stop near Peart Road and Cottonwood Lane, on Sunday when an oncoming vehicle crashed into one of their DUI Task Force vehicles, said PCSO spokesman Tim Gaffney.

The deputy was taken to Casa Grande Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. His K9 was transported to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in San Tan Valley as a precaution.

Amanda Leyvas, 22, of Casa Grande was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

Her passenger, Terry Sigarroba, 23, was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to a different case. Both suspects were not hurt in the crash, said Gaffney.

Leyvas was also booked on aggravated assault and criminal damage charges, according to Gaffney.

The DUI Task Force arrested 16 people that night.
