Tulsa man's lips stapled shut during home invasion attempt, says authorities

Police say armed robbers stapled a man's lips during a home invasion early Monday.

Officers say three men armed with shotguns broke into an apartment at Windsor Village Apartments near 51st and Yale around 1 a.m. and demanded money and drugs.

Three adults and a child younger than 2 were in the apartment at the time.

The victims recognized the suspects as former neighbors who had recently been evicted after the victims reported them for drug use, police say, according to KJRH.

Investigators believe the men stapled one victim's lips with a carpet staple gun as a warning against cooperating with police.

According to the police report, three of the victims were bound with their hands behind their backs and their feet to their hands.

The robbers left the scene with computers, laptops and a black Dodge Challenger, among other things.

Two of the suspects -- Angel Rodriguez and Mario Mediano -- were captured just a few hours later after the vehicle was spotted at a nearby Whataburger.  They face possible charges of first-degree burglary, armed robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The third suspect remains at large.
