Quarterback stabbing arrest: Suspect charged with assaulting college player

Newark police arrested a suspect Tuesday in the weekend stabbing of a University of Delaware quarterback.

Michael Creed, 25, was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Creed is accused of stabbing Trevor Sasek, senior quarterback for the Blue Hens, on Sunday morning.

Sasek suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen during a fight, but he is now in stable condition.

Police used surveillance footage to track a vehicle associated with Creed, police said.

Sasek was a three-year starter at quarterback for Spring-Ford Area High School and has played in 13 games for the Blue Hens over the last three seasons.
