Canada meteor: Fireball lights up night sky across Canada, northeastern states as meteor passes

Bright lights in the evening sky are nothing new to Arizona. Maybe they're stars, an airplane passing overhead or perhaps even something extraterrestrial.

Many folks in Canada and parts of the United States, including Columbus, Ohio, noticed a bright light dart across the sky Friday night.

Our Scripps sister station received several phone calls and emails from viewers who spotted the fireball shoot across the sky.

This morning many people are buzzing on social media about the meteor that lit up the night sky around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The meteor could be seen as far as Alberta, Canada and across several northeastern states.

The attached video was captured in Greenwood, Indiana and shows a white ball cross the evening sky in a matter of seconds. Watch the video in the player above.
