No sweet dreams here. Burger King’s newest Halloween menu item might literally give you nightmares.

The Nightmare King sandwich is a special-edition entree to get you into the spooky spirit...if you dare!

It features a quarter-pound of savory flame-grilled beef, white meat crispy chicken fillet, melted American cheese, thick-cut bacon, creamy mayonnaise and onions — all between a glazed green sesame seed bun, the restaurant says.

Burger King says they partnered with the Paramount Trials and Florida Sleep and Neuro Diagnostic Services Inc., and Goldforest Inc., to look into the effects of these nightmarish meals.

The study included 100 participants over 10 nights, and after eating the Nightmare King, they found the incidence of nightmares increased 3.5 times!

They didn't cite exactly why these sandwiches seemed to trigger more nightmares in the study participants. However, according to Sleep.org, food can be a trigger for bad dreams. One article in a psychology journal also notes a connection between food and dreams, though nothing that drew a strong conclusion.

Are you brave enough to try one of Burger King's Nightmare Kings? The sandwiches will be available starting on October 22.

If you’re interested in having it delivered to you, Postmates will offer the Nightmare King from October 22 to November 1 with free delivery.
