Most of us have searched our name online just to see what will pop up. But some people say what they find is shocking.

It's incorrect or outdated information about a crime. Or it's personal information like birth dates, addresses, even photos of your home.

The Better Business Bureau's Felicia Thompson says they've closed 35 complaints against Atlas Public Records in the last year.

Many of the complaints say Atlas also wants to charge people to take down the bad information. Thompson says the charges can be upwards of $300 according to complaints.

The Atlas Public Records site says they will remove a listing for free if the information was dismissed, expunged or sealed. But other complaints say they provided Atlas with proof and have not heard back.

We could only find an email address for Atlas. The company did not respond to our request for more information.

Public information is out there and sites can legally gather and post it.

If you had a court case, I'd check with the courts to see the if information is accurate. If its wrong on a website, or if non-public information is posted, I'd file a complaint with theAttorney General's office.
