Two men have been arrested after using unique weapons in two Phoenix assaults.
Phoenix police report that on June 28 they responded to 36th Street and Thomas Road for an aggravated assault. Police say 26-year-old Isiah Lucas Ramirez broke into a friend's apartment and used a piece of molding to threaten the people inside.
One victim began fighting with Ramirez, trying to push him out of the apartment.
Ramirez grabbed a 'limb lopper,' a long-handled limb cutter, and swung it at the victim. He reportedly gave the victim a deep cut on his forearm.
Police say the victim needed surgery to repair the damage.
Ramirez has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary.
The next day, police went to a home near Central and Southern avenues where they arrested 46-year-old Jerry Reese. Reese is accused of attacking a family member with a Samurai sword.
Reese reportedly swung the sword but missed the victim, instead of hitting and damaging the front door.
Reese has been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
