A Phoenix woman is accused of shooting her boyfriend during a break up, then jumping out a window to go after him.

Phoenix police report that on May 18, they responded to an apartment complex near 43rd and Dunlap avenues. There they found a man who had been shot in the neck.

Police say 35-year-old Renee Lewis told them that she shot the victim because he broke up with her.

She allegedly tried to shoot him a second time, but her gun malfunctioned.

Lewis and the victim fought over the gun. After getting it away from her, the victim attempted to leave the apartment, only to have Lewis crash through a window to go after him.

Lewis reportedly told police that, "She wanted him and her to die if they can't be together."

Police say the bullet entered the victim’s neck and exited near his right shoulder blade.

Lewis is being held on $75,000 bond for attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
