A man was apprehended by security guards after breaking out nine windows on a light rail train, causing over $43,000 in damage.

Phoenix Police report that on September 22, a man, later identified as 25-year-old Zachary Dontae Nix, used "baseball-sized" rocks to break nine windows on a light rail train near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road.

Police say the train operator was sitting behind three of the windows when they broke. Nix also allegedly swung the rock at three security guards who prevented him from breaking more windows.

Police say the estimated cost to replace the windows is $43,680.

Nix has been charged with criminal damage.
