A Valley man is facing robbery and assault charges after punching a city bus and then trying to steal a truck.

Mesa police report on December 7, Joshua Wayne Adams, 24, caused a disturbance on a Valley Metro Bus near Mesa Drive and Broadway Road.

When he left the bus, he began punching it.

Behind the bus, police say, was a pickup truck towing a trailer. After punching the truck, Adams reportedly got into the truck bed and began striking the back window with a shovel. The man and woman in the truck started driving with Adams in the back. They drove to Mesa City Court, where they parked and honked for help.

When officers arrived, the victims got out of the truck and Adams jumped into the driver's seat and tried to take off.

Police used "beanbag rounds" to subdue and detain Adams.

When he was arrested, Adams allegedly threatened to kill the officers on behalf of his gang.
