PHOENIX — A witness is being credited with taking action after seeing a man being robbed at an Phoenix ATM earlier this month.
Phoenix police report that on January 9 just after 10 p.m. a man came to the aid of a robbery victim near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
The victim was reportedly being punched in the face by 45-year-old Jose Richard Benitez.
Benitez was also allegedly trying to steal the victim's cash and debit cards.
The witness pulled Benitez away from the victim, and with the help of security and police officers, Benítez was arrested.
He has been charged with attempted robbery and assault.
