A DUI suspect rammed into the back end of a horse trailer carrying horses, according to MCSO.

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies report that on September 6 they responded to a collision in Wittmann near 212th Avenue and Patton Road.

There they found a truck pulling a horse trailer was struck from behind. The impact, deputies say, shoved the trailer into the truck bed as far as the rear axle.

The driver and two children in the truck were evaluated, but no injuries to them or the horses were reported.

Deputies say the driver of the second vehicle, 26-year-old Joseph Anthony Gonzalez, was driving on a suspended license after a previous DUI conviction.

Deputies say Gonzalez was traveling about 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

He allegedly admitted to, "drinking quite a bit of alcoholic beverages prior to driving," including a 12-pack of beer in the previous two hours.

His preliminary breath test showed a B.A.C. level of .321.

Gonzalez mocked deputies during his sobriety test by counting, "one beer can, two beer cans, three beer cans" before stumbling according to court paperwork.

He's been charged with aggravated DUI.
