Willpower alone does not work because it's a disease. Millions of Americans suffer from an eating disorders, alcohol use disorders, substance use disorders, and other addictive disorders. Their lives are controlled by food, drugs, sex, and alcohol.

With the eating disorder is the most lethal of all psychiatric disorders. Gaining or losing weight becomes the focus of their existence. They often feel guilty, isolated, depressed and ashamed. They may be compulsively overeating, binge purging, or starving themselves. All of them have one thing in common. They are suffering from an eating disorder, which can be fatal if left untreated. With professional support, lifelong recovery and freedom from an eating disorder can be achieved.

With Alcohol and Substances people are dying. This past year there were 42,249 over dose deaths by any opioid, 15,469 overdose deaths by heroin, 14,487 overdose deaths by semi-synthetic opioids, Overdose deaths involving methadone 3,373, and overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone 19,143.

In 2015, 138.3 million Americans aged 12 or older reported current use of alcohol, 66.7 million reported binge alcohol use in the past month, and 17.3 million reported heavy alcohol use in the past month. Thus, nearly half of current alcohol users reported binge alcohol use (48.2 percent), and about 1 in 8 current alcohol users reported heavy alcohol use (12.5 percent). Among binge alcohol users, about 1 in 4 (26.0 percent) were heavy users.

The key to recovery is to understand the cause of the self-destructive behavior and to acquire the tools to facilitate the necessary changes. This is the core of WD Recovery and Wellness Centers philosophy.
