All around us in the Valley, someone goes above and beyond to help make our community even better. So ABC15 and The Valley Toyota Dealers have teamed up to tell their stories!

This week, we want you to meet Debbie Sinfield and her group, "Sew Sweet Angel Gowns." They are making a difference for grieving parents, taking old wedding gowns and turning them into special gowns for babies who are miscarried or stillborn.

"I don't sew. I don't know how to thread a needle. I can't even hem my pants," Sinfield said.

But what Sinfield does know how to do is give new life to the old.

In a spare room in her Ahwatukee home, there are hundreds of donated wedding gowns.

Since September 2017, the group has created nearly 500 baby gowns, donating them to hospitals and families in Arizona and across the United States.

Thirty years ago, Sinfield lost her own baby in a miscarriage.

"You're just devastated. You're in denial for a while. You're in shock," she said.

So for Sinfield and others, it's all about bringing that comfort to these grieving families.

We want to meet the people in our community going above and beyond to help make our community even better. Tell us why they should be one of Nick's Heroes and they could win a $500 gift card from our friends at Valley Toyota Dealers. Enter them to win abc15.com/heroes.
