When you think of Ray of Light, it's important for one to know about Ray Hernandez, owner, master craftsmen, and artesian.  Ray was raised in Superior Arizona a small mining town, east of the valley. As a young man, Ray would travel with his father to Tempe Arizona to Payless Cashways mill shop,  picking up carpentry materials.  While traveling from Superior to the valley, Ray and his dad would talk about running a business and what it takes to be a leader.  Ray's dad was a great mentor.

After Ray graduated from high school, he moved to the valley, where he worked as an apprentice under Martin Moreno painting murals.  There are various works of art around down town Phoenix, that Ray was a part of, as well as ASU.
Eventually Ray ventured out on his own, contracting work for homeowner's and business's painting murals, faux finishes and venetian plasters.  When the economy started to shift in a downward direction, Ray also adjusted his focus to where he felt a need was not being met. What he realized, home owners were keeping their homes longer and starting to look into remodeling.  This is where cabinet refinishing was birthed into life.

Cabinet refinishing is a great alternative to replacing your cabinets.  First the down time is reduced, and the cost is far less. Who should consider cabinet refinishing and not replacing? Anyone that is satisfied with their current layout of their kitchen, and their cabinets are in relatively good shape, or as one might say, they have good bones? Another reason to consider refinishing over replacing is cost, along with updating the look and change the color of the cabinetry.  Since Ray of light will strip and sand to bare wood, they effectively are starting with a fresh canvas.  What color you might ask?  Ray of Light can match/make any color under the sun, they are true artisans and colorist.  They actually have created custom colored lacquers and stains for their client's, and them naming the stain or colored lacquer after the client's by using their last name.

Another part of the cabinet refinishing, and where Ray's craftsmanship, and years of being mentored by his dad has paid off, would be trim carpentry.  Ray is able to update most island cabinets by adding trim carpentry, making the island cabinet a focal point, where it becomes an amazing piece of furniture. He also can add crown moulding or box in refrigerators or add custom trim above upper cabinets so that your kitchen will have a very custom look rather than builder grade cabinetry.

Ray of Light is proud to announce it's 18+ years in business enhancing homes in the Valley of the Sun. They have a showroom in Tempe, where there's an array of doors with colored lacquers and stains to choose from.
