Dr. Greg Marchand is originally from Providence, RI, and is a board certified physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Marchand completed training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Tennessee, and has publications in the fields of urogynecology and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Marchand was also one half of the team that was recently recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records(TM) for removing a seven pound uterus without needing to cut open the patient. Dr. Marchand is one of the few OBGYN's in Arizona to be COEMIG Certfied, (Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology). Interests of Dr. Marchand include minimally invasive surgery, gynecologic ultrasound, and low carbohydrate living. When he is not operating, Dr. Marchand spends time chasing around his 3 year son Sebastian.

Minimally invasive surgery is also called laparoscopy when performed in the abdomen and arthroscopy when performed in the joints. This was not possible until the modern technologies of television, computer miniaturization, fiber optics and lasers were developed. But today, minimally invasive procedures are routinely used in place of traditional surgery and they have become the standard of care for many common illnesses and injuries.

Most minimally invasive surgical procedures are performed using a tiny telescope with a television camera at the end. Magnified video images from the camera allow the surgeon to view organs, bones and other internal structures without having to make large incisions. Miniature surgical instruments are also inserted through the additional small incisions to accomplish the medically necessary tasks for the type of operation involved.

Obstetrics & Gynecology

An OBGYN is a combination of two medical specialties that almost always go hand in hand: women's reproductive health and pregnancy/childbirth. The label signifies that the doctor is both an obstetrician and a gynecologist and can serve both functions in his practice. In terms of the layman's experience, this doctor is typically who a woman will see when she learns she is pregnant or suspects that she might be. In many cases, the doctor will then continue to see the patient throughout her pregnancy and may even be the one to deliver the baby when the time is due.
Seeing an OBGYN is important to a woman's overall health throughout their life and Dr. Greg Marchand and his staff have the experience and expertise to make sure that your health and comfort are always their number one priority.

Menopause

Dr. Marchand is provides healthcare for women through every phase of menopause.
Menopause is a natural process that simply means the end of menstruation. As a woman ages, there is a gradual decline in the function of her ovaries and the production of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. The decline of estrogen can lead to symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood changes.
Natural menopause usually occurs between the ages of 45 to 55, and it becomes official when you have not experienced a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. Some women experience menopause at younger ages due to premature ovarian failure, cancer therapy, or surgical removal of both ovaries.
