Property taxes in Arizona are some of the most complex in the country.  If you own and occupy your home as your primary residence, you are entitled to receive a property tax exemption, which can lower your tax bill as much as $600 per year in Maricopa County.  Recently, Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen stated, "a new Arizona law in 2012 cracked down on absentee owners, denying the exemption for homes not permanently occupied.  More than 100,000 parcels have had the exemption removed."

At Arizona Property Tax Alliance, we believe in our mission to help homeowners successfully navigate the complex Arizona property tax system.  We have found that approximately 42,000 homeowners have been incorrectly reclassified as "absentee owners."  Many homeowners were reclassified because they failed to return a postcard survey to the assessor, others moved the title of their home into their trust.  These errors have resulted in Maricopa County alone collecting millions of dollars in property taxes that should be refunded to the homeowners.

Our purpose is to put money back in your pocket.  In our experience, receiving a refund of nearly $1,800 at this time of year might just make your holiday season a lot more enjoyable.
