The 'Luke Days 2020' air show at Luke Air Force Base has been canceled

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE — The Luke Days 2020 air show has been grounded.

In a tweet on Friday morning, Luke Air Force Base said its biennial air show, which was scheduled to take place on March 21-22, 2020, would be canceled "due to growing COVID-19 concerns and to mitigate health risks to attendees."

This year's performers included the coveted U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, F-35A Lightning II demonstration team, U.S. Air Force Wings of Blue, among other aerial stunt performers, according to the website.

Within the last 72 hours, dozens of Valley events, festivals or concerts have been canceled or postponed due to growing concerns surrounding the potential spread of COVID-19: Spring Training, the Phoenix St. Patrick's Day Faire (the festival is still scheduled), Italian Festival of Arizona, Arizona Aloha Festival, Scottsdale Arts Festival, Cirque Du Soleil's "Axel", Disney on Ice, Pearl Jam's tour, and Rage Against The Machine's tour, to name a few.

The air show, which last took place in 2018, typically brings in thousands of people to the airbase.
