Talking Stick Resort and Casino will remain closed through the month of September, the resort announced Friday, a few days shy of a month since back-to-back monsoon storms damaged its backup generators.

"Ongoing repairs to the electrical power system at Talking Stick Resort will require further closure of the property through the month of September. Employees and outside personnel continue work around the clock to restore power," the resort said in its statement.

The resort has been closed since Aug. 11. A confirmed reopening date has not been announced.

Since the closure, officials have said that the damage to the resort's power system and generators has been the biggest obstacle. The administrative offices, meeting room and cafe on the lower levels were also damaged.

The casino, restaurants and concert venues on the upper levels were not damaged, the resort said in a previous statement.

Because of the closure, the resort postponed a number of its events and moved others to its sister property, Casino Arizona.

Those with reservations have reportedly been contacted and offered to have their stay moved to a nearby hotel or rescheduled. Guests with reservations or questions can contact the resort at 866-877-9897.

The resort's Talking Stick Golf Club has since reopened its North and South courses, as well as its restaurant.

Officials also said the extended closure has also allowed the resort "the opportunity to refresh areas of the resort and casino unchanged since the resort’s opening in 2010."
