The "LOVE" sculpture in Scottsdale will reopen for photos, selfies and Instagram "Boomerangs" on Friday afternoon.

The 3,800-pound art piece will be moved 130 feet toward the Civic Center library that morning where it will once again be accessible to the public, according to Scottsdale Arts.

There is a parking structure near Second Street and Drinkwater Blvd. that is within walking distance of the library and the sculpture.

In July, officials closed the Drinkwater Bridge, the underpass on Drinkwater Blvd. and pedestrian access to part of Civic Center Mall after crews found loose concrete on a retaining wall and that the bridge's structure was failing, believed to be caused by water damage.

The area will be closed through at least November, but it could last longer, according to the City of Scottsdale's website.

Repairs will take place in two phases.

The first phase will focus on securing the bridge and the second phase will focus on designing and building a "waterproofing and drainage system." It is not known when construction will start.

The "LOVE" sculpture was originated by artist Robert Indiana. It was purchased by Scottsdale for $269,500 in 2002 and dedicated on Oct. 13 of that year.
