One of the newest light displays in the Valley is so big that it has to be viewed from inside the car.
Illumination: Symphony of Light is a mile-long drive-thru light show near Interstate 17 and Jomax Road in North Phoenix. It has tractor-trailer-sized light tunnels to drive under, glowing hoops and lighted toy soldiers, and a 40-foot Christmas tree.
All 1.5 million lights are synchronized to popular holiday songs and current hits that play through your car's radio. (You will be told what station to tune to at the entrance).
ABC15 got a sneak preview and broadcast it via Facebook Live earlier this week. Watch below:
It was designed by Valley businessmen Simon Kreisberger and Ronny Urman.
Kreisberger, who founded The Play Factory, a children's entertainment center at Desert Ridge Marketplace, said the show was designed to create memories.
"That's what I thrive on," he said. "It's all about the kids. It's families. it is about creating those life experiences for people."
The show opened on Nov. 15 and will stay open through Jan. 14, 2018. The hours will be 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 6 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is per vehicle, not per person. Tickets are $29.50 per vehicle when bought online (up to 8 people inside) and $35 at the entrance. With tax and fees, it breaks down to less than $5 per person.
Organizers recommend purchasing a pass online because it will reserve an hour-long time for you.
A portion of ticket sales will benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital, organizers said.
It should take between 20-25 minutes to go through the show depending on the number of people there each night.
At the end of the show, there is "Holiday Boulevard", a themed area with crafts for the kids, photos with Santa (extra fee) and concessions (extra). Parking is first come, first served.
