A day after Megabus announced the cancelation of its Phoenix-to-Las Vegas route, competitor FlixBus jumped into the mix with an announcement of its own: $5 fares to Sin City.

The European-based discount bus company will have a 24-hour "flash sale" on Dec. 1, offering $4.99 fares between Phoenix and Las Vegas. That does not include a $2 service fee or tax.

The promotion will run from 12 a.m. to midnight, according to a news release. Fares can be as low as $0.99 each way, the website states, though one-way fares ranged from $9.99-$24.99 looking a week out on the schedule.

FlixBus, coincidentally, launched a Phoenix-to-Vegas route the same month as Megabus (May 2018), which marks six months in the market.

Megabus did not provide a specific reason for leaving the market but in a statement said it came to the decision after a six-month trial run.

FlixBus offers daily service from Phoenix to Las Vegas. They also have routes to Los Angeles, California; Tucson and Flagstaff. Locally, bus service is operated by Arrow Stage Lines.

Greyhound also offers bus service from Phoenix to Las Vegas. Looking at the next two weeks, one-way fares ranged between $26-$41, according to Greyhound's website.
