After a month of delays, Illegal Pete's has opened its doors in downtown Tempe.

The Colorado-based restaurant chain known for its mission-style burritos took over the old "My Big Fat Greek Restaurant" space on Mill Avenue.

A "soft" opening was held Thursday evening. It opened for lunch and dinner on Thursday and will begin serving breakfast on Friday, according to a news release.

The Tempe location marks the chain's second restaurant in Arizona -- Tucson opened in 2015 -- and its 11th overall.

Its menu features customizable burritos, bowls, tacos, and nachos, similar to other fast-casual restaurants.

The chain was founded by Pete Turner Jr. in 1995 in Boulder, Colorado.
