As Phoenix continues its daily battle to save lives in the face of the novel coronavirus pandemic, one prominent company is urging the community to support a local organization serving the very population that is most vulnerable to the deadly COVID-19 disease: senior citizens.

Waymo is stepping up its support for The Foundation for Senior Living (FSL), a prominent local non-profit, and asking others to join in. FSL has been providing affordable housing and promoting health and independence for seniors in the Phoenix area since 1974.

FSL Seeing Demand for its Services Surge

FSL provides meal delivery, phone check-ins, and medical supplies for seniors and their caregivers, among other services. Every single day, FSL feeds more than 1,400 Arizonans, nearly all of them seniors or vulnerable adults.

But now, due to the pandemic, FSL has seen a surge in demand for its services. Complicating things further: the organization has been unable to host its only annual fundraising event that would have raised urgently needed funds.

Waymo and FSL Have Teamed Up

Waymo has been operating self-driving cars in Phoenix since 2017. The same year, Waymo began working with Foundation for Senior Living (FSL) to educate the public about the need for greater mobility and independence for seniors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Waymo has increased their support to FSL as they scale up their grocery delivery and healthcare services to meet growing demand during this uncertain time.

Now, Waymo is urging the community to give back to a partner that has done so much for so many. All donations will help FSL continue to provide safe, affordable housing for over 1,000 Arizonans each night, 516,000 nutritious meals each year, community-based healthcare to over 5,500 Arizonans each year, and over 336,00 hours of respite care each year.

Waymo is also thanking everyone who has already come together to generously support its partner FSL and the most vulnerable members of the Phoenix senior community during this difficult time.

If you are able to give during this time, consider making a donation to support the Foundation for Senior Living here.
