Jason Volentine is an Emmy award-winning journalist with more than a decade of experience reporting and anchoring the news.
Jason joined ABC15 as a reporter in June of 2016. However, he's been telling stories that matter to people in the Valley since he moved to Phoenix in 2012.
Growing up in Nebraska, Jason graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in journalism and started his career at the CBS affiliate in Lincoln. The news business also took him to Houston and Grand Rapids, Michigan, before landing in the Valley of the Sun.
His favorite part of the job is sharing new experiences with the people in his stories. During his time in Arizona, Jason has been bitten by a police K-9, shot with training rounds, searched for scorpion antivenin south of the border, and dangled from a rock-climbing harness 130 feet over a jagged canyon outside Flagstaff -- a story that earned him an Emmy Award.
"Each day offers a brief but wonderful window into somebody else's reality, and it's humbling when a person trusts me with their story," said Jason.
In his spare time, Jason likes running, woodworking, flying airplanes (private pilot), hiking and rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He lives in Phoenix with his wife and son.
