Dan Spindle is an award-winning journalist who joined the ABC15 News team in March of 2013 and has been a familiar face on Arizona television for most of his career on camera.
Dan is an anchor at ABC15 and the lead reporter for the station's Operation Safe Roads inititaive.
Growing up, Dan moved to every corner of this country and also lived in South America, but he’s always felt at home in the desert.
Dan graduated from Willcox High School in southern Arizona. He first caught the television bug at the Film School at Scottsdale Community College where he earned a degree in Motion Picture and Television Production. Dan also attended the University of Arizona and has a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York Institute of Technology.
Dan’s first gig in television took his family to the Pacific Northwest where he served as Weekend Anchor for KOBI-TV in Medford, Oregon. Next, Dan worked at the ABC affiliate in Tucson, KGUN9, in the same role. The Spindle family arrived back in the Valley when Dan landed a job at KSAZ-TV where he reported daily stories and anchored the weekend morning newscasts. He also returned to teach his fellow “Artichokes” at the SCC film school in courses on Radio and Television Fundamentals.
Dan has two Emmy awards for reporting and anchoring and has also been honored by the Associated Press. He loves telling stories and showcasing the great state of Arizona.
When he’s not working, Dan loves spending time with his wife, Kendra, and their five children. He loves Star Wars, history, video editing and is a die hard fan of all Arizona sports teams.
