Cool! Ice needles found on beach in Minnesota

While Arizona has already reached the triple digits, in eastern Minnesota, local residents were treated to warm, 70 degree spring weather and the chance to see ICE NEEDLES forming at a nearby lake.

The occurrence happens when thin sheets of ice on the cold lake are blown by the wind onto the warmer shoreline.

The ice is forced against the shore and begins to splinter into the "ice needles", creating a unique and beautiful sight.
