“The ‘Nutcracker’ of Halloween,” A Vampire Tale by Scorpius Dance Theatre returns to Phoenix Theatre for its sixth consecutive season, October 21-November 7, 2009. For the first time ever, the requisite haunt of the fall season will be set to an original music score by local composer, Kristofer Hill, with guest pieces by Ryan Breen of Back Ted N-Ted.

Choreographed by artistic director, Lisa Starry, audiences have made a ritual revisiting A Vampire Tale to observe its juicy developments (A.K.A. “the fresh meat”). This ever-evolving, original dance production is comprised of a cast of 15 company dancers and several surprise guest artists. Scorpius Dance Theatre will reprise this signature cult production, October 21 to November 7, 2009 at Phoenix Theatre's Little Theatre in downtown Phoenix.

Dates and Show times:
Oct. 21-23; 28-31; Nov. 4-7 at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 23; 30-31; Nov. 6-7 at 9:30 p.m.

In A Vampire Tale, a susceptible young woman emerges lost and depressed, and is lured into an assorted band of bloodsuckers by their shadowy showmanship and seductive transactions. The characters construct an intense spectacle of dark debauchery, while the innocent are both fascinated and frightened by their underworld. With A Vampire Tale, audiences get all the trimmings: dark and sexy drama, quirky and comedic episodes, and visually stunning aerial feats.

The show was voted “Best Modern Dance Production” by Phoenix New Times’ Best of Phoenix 2007. An annual affair, A Vampire Tale is now received by sold out audiences.

A Vampire Tale will be presented at Phoenix Theatre's Little Theatre, 100 E. McDowell Rd. Tickets go on sale September 1 and are $24 for adults, and $19 for students, children, seniors, or those wearing a vampire costume. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Phoenix Theatre box office at 602-254-2151or visit www.scorpiusdance.com.
