Weekend Travel Alert: June 24-27

Several weekend construction projects will closed or restrict Valley freeways this weekend, including southbound Loop 101 in two locations in the East Valley. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers use alternate routes for the following freeway restrictions:

 

Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Shea Boulevard and McDonald Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 27) for widening project. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Cactus Road also closed. DETOUR: Drivers urged to consider alternate freeway routes, including southbound State Route 51. Southbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at Shea Boulevard will detour to southbound Hayden Road.

 

Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) narrowed to three lanes between Loop 202 and Southern Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday (June 25) for pavement repair. Both Loop 202 ramps to southbound Loop 101 closed. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at University Drive closed. Southbound Loop 101 then narrowed to one lane near Loop 202 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 27) for pavement repair. Both Loop 202 ramps to southbound Loop 101 will be reopened, along with southbound on-ramp at University Drive. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight at McDonald Drive from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (June 25) and narrowed to two lanes at McDonald Drive from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (June 26) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

 

Interstate 10 closed at times in both directions between Verrado Way and Miller Road (up to 20 minutes) from 6 a.m. to noon Sunday (June 26) for Cox Communications overhead line installation. DETOUR: Please use caution when traffic is slowing or is temporarily stopped by DPS troopers.

 

Southbound Interstate 17 closed at times overnight near Anthem Way (up to 30 minutes) from 11 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday (June 25) and from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday (June 26) for overhead message sign installation. Southbound I-17 on-ramp at Anthem Way closed. DETOUR: Please use caution when traffic is slowing or is temporarily stopped by DPS troopers.
