Weekend Travel Alert: June 17-20

If you're hitting the roads this weekend, watch out for a couple spots on Valley roads that will be restricted and congested. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends planning ahead and considering alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:

Northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) narrowed to three lanes between Southern Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday (June 18) for paving. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Southern Avenue and Broadway Road closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Stay alert in work zones.

Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed (left lanes closed in both directions) between Van Buren/52nd streets and Loop 101 overnight from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (June 18) for sign work. DETOUR: Use caution and be prepared to merge safely. Please watch for workers and equipment in work zones.

Eastbound Grand Avenue (US 60) narrowed to one lane at Thunderbird Road (left lane open) from 2:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday (June 18) for construction. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Watch for workers and equipment in work zones. NOTE: Eastbound Grand Avenue will be narrowed to two lanes at Thunderbird Road from Saturday morning through fall 2016.

Northbound Loop 303 off- and on-ramps at El Mirage Road closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (June 18) for pavement-markings work. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes. From El Mirage Road, drivers can use Williams Drive to 117th/115th avenues to Happy Valley Parkway to reach Loop 303 NB. Drivers on northbound Loop 303 can exit at Happy Valley Parkway and turn at the interchange to enter southbound Loop 303 and then exit at El Mirage Road.
