Drivers need to watch out for a few big freeway closures and restrictions this weekend on Valley freeways.

For example, northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) will be closed between McDonald Drive and 90th Street in the Scottsdale area for rubberized asphalt paving.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) right merge lane and on- and off-ramps between Via De Ventura and 90th Street closed from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday (Aug. 26) for rubberized asphalt paving. DETOUR: Please consider using other nearby ramps, including the northbound on-ramps at Indian Bend Road/Talking Stick Way or 90th Street and off-ramp at Via De Ventura.

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between McDonald Drive and 90th Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for rubberized asphalt paving. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Indian School and Chaparral roads also closed. Expect heavy traffic and delays. DETOUR: Please consider alternate freeway routes, including westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to northbound State Route 51 or Interstate 17. Northbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at McDonald Drive will detour west to northbound Hayden Road and can re-enter Loop 101 via Shea Boulevard. Note: Northbound Loop 101 HOV lane also closed between 90th Street and Shea Boulevard.

Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes (left lanes closed) between Estrella Parkway and Loop 303 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 27) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including westbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to travel beyond the work zone and access I-10 via Citrus or Perryville roads.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Gilbert and Power roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for rubberized asphalt paving. Eastbound Loop 202 on- and off-ramps also closed in the area. DETOUR: Please consider using alternate routes, including eastbound McDowell Road, to avoid freeway delays and ramp closures.

Interstate 17 closed in both directions between Indian School and Thomas roads from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 7:30 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 28) for Cox Communications overhead-cable work. Both I-17 frontage roads also closed in area. East- and westbound I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 (at “Stack” interchange) closed. DETOUR: Traffic will use signed detour on local streets.

Grand Avenue (US 60) closed overnight between Dysart and Litchfield roads from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for bridge work. DETOUR: Traffic will detour on local streets, including Dysart and Litchfield roads. Please allow extra travel time.

Westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound Loop 303 closed from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 27) for construction. DETOUR: Consider exiting westbound I-10 at Sarival Avenue and using westbound McDowell Road and northbound Cotton Lane to reach northbound Loop 303 via the Thomas Road on-ramp.
