Drivers should expect closures and delays on Interstate 17 in Arizona this week

CORDES LAKES, AZ - Travelers on Interstate 17 should be aware of various closures throughout the week due to scheduled blasting on the roadway.

Arizona Department of Transportation says there will be intermittent closures of I-17 at Big Bug Creek near Cordes Junction Monday night between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Road closures could take up to 30 minutes each in order to create a safe work and driving zone.

Crews will also be cleaning up the roadway and placing concrete girders on the new Arcosanti bridge on I-17 throughout the week causing more road closures.

Between Monday and Thursday, August 10, only one lane will be open in both directions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

On Tuesday, southbound drivers will be shifted to on- and off-ramps near the Arcosanti bridge.

Northbound drivers will be shifted to the on- and off-ramps on Wednesday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
