PHOENIX - Authorities say a woman jumped out of a moving vehicle Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 while being transported to a behavioral health facility.
According to the Bart Graves with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 10 at 63rd Avenue.
The 38-year-old woman opened the door and jumped out of the van, causing a massive head injury, Graves said.
She was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and is listed in critical condition, he said.
The patient was on her way to a Scottsdale facility.
Air15 video showed traffic backed up around 8 a.m. to at least the Loop 101.
The HOV lane and two left lanes were blocked.
