PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning drivers of various road closures and construction sites along Valley roadways this weekend.
Most road closures and work zones will be taking place along the Grand Avenue corridor for pavement improvements.
Grand Avenue will be narrowed to one lane in either direction between 71st and 84th Avenue from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to ADOT. The road will be narrowed for road pavement work, though much of it will be done during overnight hours.
75th Avenue will be closed at Grand Avenue overnight Friday into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.
This road will reportedly be closed, not narrowed, so drivers should prepare to use detours.
Grand Avenue can be accessed from Cotton Crossing or 83rd Avenue.
Peoria Avenue and 83rd Avenue will be closed at Grand Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, ADOT reports. It will also be closed from 7 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
Similar to the 75th Avenue closure, drivers can access Grand Avenue from Cotton Crossing or 85th Avenue overnight.
ADOT alerts drivers that southbound Interstate 17 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday at the Rose Garden Lane on-ramp. Deer Valley Road can be used as an alternate route to access I-17.
Freeway expansion work will close Northern Avenue between Loop 303 and Cotton Lane from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. Glendale Avenue can be used as a detour for this work zone.
