VIDEO: Steve Nash talks about move to LA Lakers

LOS ANGELES - Former Phoenix Suns star Steve Nash is officially a Los Angeles Lakers player.

Lakers officials said the agreement was signed Tuesday night.

Nash posed for the media with a #10 jersey at a Wednesday afternoon news conference at the Lakers' practice facility.

Nash spoke at the news conference, saying the opportunity to play for one of the most decorated franchises in the league was too good an opportunity to pass up.

"It is still a little bit surreal, it's a long step that I didn't foresee and at the same time it's exciting," Nash said.

He said the opportunity keeps him close to his children in Phoenix and that was a huge motivation for him.

The two-time MVP apologized to Suns fans, saying he knows this isn't easy for them but it was an opportunity for him to win a championship.

Nash said it was a difficult decision to make, knowing there would be a lot of people who wouldn't understand.

Nash said the move is the best thing for him and his family.

At several points in the news conference Nash answered reporters' questions in Spanish.

He said he would love to have Grant Hill join him in Los Angeles.

Nash said he owes a lot to the Phoenix Suns for allowing the trade and says he had a great eight years in Phoenix. He added he doesn't blame the team for wanting to go with younger players.
