In March, we showed you video of Avondale resident Jerry Pritchett performing a 1,006-pound deadlift, a new American record.

Well, on Saturday, 28-year-old Eddie Hall from the United Kingdom did one better by setting a new world record -- though it came at a price.

During the 2016 World Deadlift Championships in Leeds, England, Hall successfully lifted 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds) -- and then passed out as soon as he put the weights down.

It's tough to tell, but it looks like the 400-pound Hall regained consciousness long enough to hear the "Eddie" chants from the amazed crowd.

"The pressure on my body was surreal, absolutely surreal, and I passed out and had nose bleeds," Hall told the Stoke Sentinel. "That nearly killed me."
