Miami Dolphins offensive lineman, Richie Incognito, was admitted to a psychiatric care unit in Arizona Thursday, according to a TMZ Sports report .
The Scottsdale Police Department filled out a petition to have Incognito admitted to the facility and Incognito did not resist, acknowledging that he needed help, the report states.
According to Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network, Incognito “accepted professional help in the wake of severe mental stress.”
TMZ reported Thursday that Incognito damaged his own Ferrari with a baseball bat in front of his Scottsdale home.
Incognito was named in a February NFL report listing numerous incidents of alleged harassment of fellow Dolphins players and staff.
He will become an unrestricted free agent in March 2014.
