Fouhy on selling your son's memorabilia (BLOG)

PHOENIX - Talk about a strange Mother's Day story!

Kobe Bryant and his mom just can't see eye to eye on who actually owns his sports memorabilia.

She says because she's been paying $1,500 per month to store it, it's hers! He says it's his and it's always been his! And Goldin Auctions is caught in the middle!

They say, they've already paid his mom, Pamela a $450,000 advance so they have every right to proceed with the auction.

Look, I can actually see both sides of this one. On one hand, Kobe's mom has been storing it for years and he hasn't made much of an effort to get it. She wants to buy a new house in Nevada and $450,000 would certainly come in handy!

On the other hand, I'm sure Kobe felt like all that memorabilia was in good hands, so he probably didn't think too much about it. I'm sure he thought it was safe with his parents.

But the bottom line for me is simple. You just don't sell your sons memorabilia! You're his mother for goodness sakes!

That's Fouhy on Sports!
