What's wrong with this week's Associated Press football poll (BLOG)

PHOENIX - Look, the Arizona State Sun Devils made mincemeat out of the University of Washington Saturday, beating the Huskies 53-24 and they still can't find their way into the Associated Press Top 25? That's an outrage!

The Sun Devils are 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play, sitting in first place in the Pac-12 South Division, and a team they beat earlier this season, Wisconsin, is ranked 22nd this week! Again, that's an outrage!

How can you beat Wisconsin (albeit a close game) in week two, and in week seven be sitting four spots below the Badgers when you have identical records? Unbelievable!

I'm surprised that the voters feel that Wisconsin is that much better than the Sun Devils, especially after ASU has beaten up on USC (62-41) and Colorado (54-13) and UW (53-24)!

When you add in the fact that USC lost to Notre Dame by 4 (14-10), you have to ask, why in the world are the Devils on the outside looking in?

In my mind, ASU is clearly one of the best programs in the country and should be in this week's top 25, but for some reason, the Devils can't get any respect from the voters!

Sure, the Devils lost to then-No. 5 Stanford, but they fought back in the second half and turned in a decent performance before losing to the Cardinal (42-28). But Stanford just beat UCLA (24-10) and UCLA has a 5-1 record this season.

I'm trying not to sound like a "homer" but this is ridiculous! Arizona State deserves to be ranked this week and it's a shame they're not! When Texas A&M (5-2) falls to Auburn, LSU (6-2) is ranked 13th, and South Carolina (5-2) is 20th, something is wrong with the balloting!

And of course, as I mentioned earlier, Wisconsin (5-2), a team Arizona State beat earlier this season (32-30) is ranked 22nd, I want a recount!

So after another solid win, the Devils are left out once again. Frankly, it's just not right!

That's Fouhy on Sports!
