VIDEO: Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla takes BIG hit during Sunday's preseason game

PHOENIX - Ouch, what a hit!

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla took a brutal hit during Sunday night's preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings -- so powerful that he was wheeled off the ice in a stretcher.

Klesla was injured in the first quarter of Phoenix's opening preseason game Sunday night when Nolan knocked him off his skates.

Klesla was alert and waving to the crowd as he was wheeled off on a stretcher.  He even sported a quick thumbs-up to a cheering arena.

Coyotes coach Dave Tippett says Klesla was released from the hospital around 3 a.m.

He suffered a concussion and whiplash, and Tippett said on Monday that he was resting comfortably at home, likely with a headache.

The hit triggered a series of fights among players on both teams and led to four 10-minute misconducts.

On Monday, the NHL suspended Coyoes forward Paul Bissonnette for 10 regular-season games for fighting during Sunday's matchup. He will lose $37,820.51 in salary.

He will be eligible to return Oct. 24 at Los Angeles.
