VIDEO: All-Star baseball players talk religion, life at 'Tales from the Dugout' event

Barry Zito, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton told personal stories on Thursday night at the inaugural "Tales from the Dugout" event at Grand Canyon University.

The event was hosted by MLB stars Tim Salmon and Aaron Boone to showcase stories of encouragement, hope and faith.

More than 3,000 people showed up to the free event to listen to their favorite ball players.

Giants pitcher Barry Zito shared that he went to Costa Rica for a wedding during the off-season, but wasn't allowed to surf because it's written in his contract.

Josh Hamilton lives in a house filled with all women ... his wife and four daughters.

Then Pujols had to laugh that his wife was buried under 27-inches of snow in St. Louis.

2013 marks the first year for "Tales from the Dugout" and something GCU hopes to continue.
