NEW ORLEANS - Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson said he is going to take it "day-to-day" after he lost part of his finger during Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.
The team said Monday that Johnson remains in Florida with the rest of the team.
Johnson said the injury occurred on a punt play when the Saints and the Cardinals were tied, 7-7.
"I came in to try and make a tackle on (Darren) Sproles, and when the play was over with, I got up and could feel my hand was kind of numb."
Johnson said he went to a trainer on the sideline after noticing blood coming out of his glove. The trainer cut the glove off and, as Johnson said, it was "pretty much severed at the top: nail and everything is completely gone."
The Cardinals player underwent surgery and does not have plans to reattach it.
"At the end of the day, I've got nine more," said Johnson.
The Cardinals lost the game 31-7 in New Orleans.
