Fans and players alike had plenty of complaints about referee Pete Morelli and the rest of the officiating crew that called the Arizona Cardinals' 19-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers last weekend.

Apparently, the NFL wasn't happy with their performance, either.

On Monday, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that the referees who worked last Sunday's game in Santa Clara, California, have been pulled from the upcoming Sunday night matchup between the Colts and Steelers and reassigned to a lower-profile game.

"It's the third time this season the NFL has taken specific action in response to officiating errors," Florio wrote. "Side judge Rob Vernatchi was suspended with pay after a clock error in the Steelers-Chargers Monday night game, and back judge Greg Wilson was assigned away from a Sunday night game between the Colts and Patriots after missing the illegal bat at the end of the Lions-Seahawks game."

Morelli's crew made several errors during the Cardinals' victory, including a lengthy delay in the first quarter due to confusion about whether it was second or third down, and an inappropriately applied penalty against the 49ers in the second quarter.

49ers fans were also unhappy about a questionable roughing the passer penalty called against San Francisco in the fourth quarter, leading to the Cardinals' game-winning touchdown.
