MESA, AZ - A Valley tradition is back this weekend at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa.
The Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic, one of the elite junior golf tournaments, starts Friday and runs until Sunday.
The AJGA event has long been a stepping stone for golf greats and was named the AJGA Tournament of the year last year.
More than 140 junior golfers tee it up in the 54-hole stroke play event.
The Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic has seen past champions like LPGA star Paula Creamer, and former Waste Management Phoenix Open champion Hunter Mahan and this year boasts another great field of amateurs.
A pair of local favorites and past champions are back.
Tempe's Trey Kaahanui, who won the event as an 8th grader, and Chandler's Kyung Kim will try to duplicate their 2008 success.
The event is named after former Sun Devil and AJGA standout Heather Farr.
Farr was named a Rolex Junior All-American five times.
Her promising LPGA career was cut short when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989 at the age of 24, she later lost her battle with cancer in 1993.
Public is welcome to attend and admission is free.
