The Arizona Diamondbacks have finally made a trade for a young shortstop.
The team announced Tuesday night they acquired SS Didi Gregorius, LHP Tony Sipp, and 1B Lars Anderson from the Cleveland Indians.
The D-backs sent former first round draft pick Trevor Bauer to Cleveland, along with RHP Matt Albers and RHP Bryan Shaw.
Bauer, the third overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, struggled this summer with making adjustments at the Major League level.
The speculation over the last few weeks was that outfielder Justin Upton would be traded to land a shortstop.
Diamondbacks General Manager Kevin Towers said Tuesday night, "It is highly unlikely that we will move Justin, I think we are a better ball club with Justin Upton."
Gregorius is expected to battle for the starting spot in Spring Training.
