Cardinals fans flock to new training camp

GLENDALE, AZ - It was out with the old and in with the new for Cardinals football fans, as the team kicked off practice season in its hometown stadium.

For the first time in over 20 years, the Cardinals are holding training camp at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Crystal West says she grew up going to the Cardinals training camp in Flagstaff. This year, she's passing down the tradition to her niece and nephew at the Glendale stadium.

"It is different," said West. "It is a change especially in the weather, it's a lot hotter."

West says it's also different because the players are inside, in an air conditioned stadium, versus outdoors, like in Flagstaff.

"I am used to them having he whole field, instead of partial field," West said.

Thirteen-year-old Cameron Giovanniello went to the Cardinals' training camp last year in Flagstaff. He says he liked the old location because it gave him a chance to get out of the heat.

"I think probably more people will go because it's in town and it won't be so difficult to find seats, he said.
