PHOENIX - Steve Nash on Thursday gave Phoenix Suns fans a personal goodbye as he prepared to head to California.
Nash's agent on Wednesday confirmed the deal sending him to the Los Angeles Lakers was finalized around 6 p.m. that day.
The two-time MVP requested a sign-and-trade deal sending him to the Suns' Pacific Division rivals. Nash was a free agent but a sign-and-trade agreement was necessary for the Lakers to afford him.
On Thursday, he tweeted a message to Suns fans , thanking them for eight great years in the Valley and saying he "didn't want things to come to an end."
