PHOENIX, AZ - Two of college football's hottest teams will face off Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
The 17th ranked Arizona State Sun Devils (8-2 / 6-1) take on the 14th ranked UCLA Bruins (8-2 / 5-2) at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
A year ago, the Bruins came into Tempe and beat the Devils on a last second field goal, 45-43.
Saturday's game marks the first time since 1986 these two teams have played when both teams are ranked in the A.P. top 25 poll. Back then, ASU was ranked No. 16 while UCLA was 15. ASU won the game 16-9 and went on to beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl and finish the season with a 10-1-1 season.
Arizona State's win streak is now at five after beating Oregon State last weekend in Tempe. Taylor Kelly threw for 183 yards, but running back Marion Grice ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. The ASU defense gave up over 300 yards to Beavers QB Sean Mannion, but picked him off four times and also forced two fumbles.
Meanwhile, the Bruins rushing attack has been effective all season, and recently, the Bruins added former linebacker Myles Jack to the mix at running back. Jack ran for 59 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries last week, while fellow running back Jordan James is questionable this week.
The Bruins have two losses this season, both road losses against Oregon and Stanford. At home, UCLA has won by double digits in every game, and they'll have one more chance to keep that streak going in their final home game of the season against Arizona State.
With the winner having a shot to clinch the Pac-12 South Division, this is definitely the game to watch this weekend.
