Arizona Diamondbacks donate uniforms to Phoenix baseball, softball youth programs

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks kicked off the 2014 Fan Fest and season with a huge community announcement.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will donate 20,000 uniforms to baseball and softball youth programs across the Valley.

The organization said 30 leagues, some registering 1,500 participants, will be taking advantage of the program, according to a press release.

"We are extremely proud to make a donation like this which allows many youth baseball and softball leagues to allocate their resources to field improvements and other vital needs, said Derrick Hall, President  & CEO of the Arizona Diamondbacks in a prepared statement.

There are 75 color combinations for the jersey and cap uniform, including the traditional Sedona Red, white, black and gray.

Thousands of fans descended on Chase Field Saturday for the Arizona Diamonds Fan Fest. Fans were able to meet their favorite D-backs players, test their skills in speed pitch and t-ball activities while also buying some team merchandise.

The team also released their 2014 promotion schedule . Giveaways include six bobbleheads, magnets, jerseys and slippers.
