Arizona Cardinals to hold annual Red and White Practice

If you're headed to University of Phoenix Stadium for the Arizona Cardinals' annual Red and White Practice on Saturday, don't expect to see too much hitting, tackling or goal line stands.

This season, new head coach Bruce Arians is more concerned about keeping his team healthy than he is about putting on a show for fans.

With nose tackle Dan Williams laid up with a sprained knee and ankle and defensive tackle Darnell Dockett out for a couple days for personal reasons, the coach says his defensive line is a little thin.

"It'll be basically a normal practice for us. If we put it on the goal line for those young guys, it'll depend on how those young defensive linemen are hanging in there, because that's where we're short right now. Darnell Dockett is excused for personal reasons, so we're a little short on defensive linemen for Saturday. But we'll move the ball like we have been, put it in a lot of situations and hopefully have a good show for the fans."

Coach Arians also has offensive guard Daryn Colledge watching from the sidelines with a nerve issue in his leg, running back Rashard Mendenhall was riding a bike during Friday's practice and third year running back Ryan Williams is still nursing a sore knee. He also has a few other players struggling with nagging injuries at this point and the Cardinals are just a week into training camp.

The good news is, defensive back Patrick Peterson has been playing both defense and offense and while he's been on offense, he's catching passes from Carson Palmer and throwing passes downfield to Larry Fitzgerald. Spending an hour in the car just to see Patrick Peterson on offense is worth the trip!

For both practices this weekend, fans can park on the east side (Green and Grey) and west side (Orange) of the stadium beginning at 12:30 p.m. Fans can enter University of Phoenix Stadium at Hyundai Gate 1 (west side) and through Budweiser Gate 3 (east side) by 1:30 p.m.

Following the Red and White Practice on Saturday, the entire team will sign autographs along the lower field wall on both sidelines prior to leaving the field. To ensure all fans have an enjoyable and safe experience, fans are asked to be considerate of each other and especially to those younger fans attempting to get an autograph.
